Every water feature is a flow-rate promise. A sheer descent needs a specific gallons-per-minute to hold a glassy sheet; a waterfall needs enough water to read as a fall instead of a dribble; deck jets need balanced pressure so all four arcs match. Hang those demands on an already-working pool pump and everything suffers — the features underperform and the filtration starves. Done right, features get dedicated pump capacity or a properly valved manifold, sized to the total demand with the plumbing runs to deliver it.

Then there’s control. Features you have to walk to the pad to turn on are features you stop using by August. We put waterfalls, jets, fire, and lighting on the automation system so the whole show is one tap on your phone — and freeze protection covers the feature plumbing the same as the rest of the pool, because an exposed scupper line cracks just as fast as a skimmer line in a Tennessee ice snap.

Do water features need their own pump?

Are fire bowls safe next to a pool?
