Renovated luxury pool at twilight in Nashville, TN
About Nashville Pool Renovations

We don’t build new pools.
We rebuild great ones.

Most pool companies treat renovation as the side work between new builds. For us it’s the entire company. Nashville Pool Renovations does one thing: takes existing Middle Tennessee pools — worn plaster, failing liners, dated decks, dying equipment — and rebuilds them into the backyard they should have been. Family-owned, specialist-crewed, and staffed by people who’ve made pools their trade, not their pivot.

Nearly two decades in the water

Jonas McCullar, owner of Nashville Pool Renovations

Jonas McCullar — Owner, Nashville Pool Renovations

Jonas McCullar has spent nearly twenty years — since 2006 — inside the pool trade in Tennessee, where he was born and raised. Gunite shells. Plaster chemistry. Liner measurement. Equipment hydraulics. The kind of knowledge that only accumulates one pool at a time, over hundreds of pools, in the same climate and the same clay soil his customers’ pools sit in.

Nashville Pool Renovations is what that experience built: a company aimed at the pools that already exist. Middle Tennessee has decades of aging inground pools — great bones, tired surfaces — and Jonas saw that the owners of those pools were being underserved by builders who’d rather sell a new dig than rebuild what’s there. Renovation isn’t our department. It’s our whole business.

Away from the job sites, Jonas and his wife Kelsey are raising four kids — which, he’ll tell you, makes managing five renovation crews feel like the easy part of the week.

“An existing pool is a puzzle a new build never has to solve — you inherit somebody else’s decisions and you make them right. That’s the work I love, and it’s the only work we do.”

— Jonas McCullar, Owner

Operations run through Carson McCullar, who keeps every project’s crews, materials, and schedule moving in the same direction — the unglamorous discipline that separates a three-week renovation from a three-month one. Add the specialist crews around them and every NPR project draws on more than fifty years of combined pool expertise.

How the Work Gets Done

Specialists at every trade. One company accountable.

Pool renovation is five different trades wearing one name — and nobody is the best at all five. That’s why we run skilled artisan crews who specialize: the plaster crew plasters, the tile setters set tile, the gunite crew shoots gunite. We’ve built these partnerships over decades, we manage every one of them directly, and one company — ours — stands accountable for the whole job.

Resurfacing Crews

Plaster, quartz, pebble, and polished finishes — applied and troweled by artisans who do this exact work every day, on partnerships going back 20+ years.

Tile & Masonry Setters

Waterline tile, coping, and stone set for Tennessee freeze-thaw — full mortar beds, freeze-rated grout, real expansion joints.

Concrete & Deck Crews

Decks poured and pavers set with compacted bases and drainage pitch — pool-specific flatwork, not general concrete guys learning on your yard.

Equipment Technicians

Pads designed, plumbed, and programmed across Hayward, Jandy, and Pentair — sized as a system, commissioned working.

Liner & Structural Specialists

Precision-measured vinyl liners, floor and wall repair, and full fiberglass-to-gunite conversions — the specialty work most companies won’t touch.

Local Leadership

Jonas and the leadership team are on job sites and reachable. This isn’t a corporate franchise or a private-equity rollup — you’re talking to the people who own the company.

How We Operate

The way we run a job

Renovation has a bad reputation in this industry for a reason — vague scopes, surprise costs, vanishing crews. Every rule below exists because we’ve watched some other company break it.

1

The scope is the scope

Before a contract is signed you get a line-item proposal and a set payment schedule. If we find something behind the old surface that changes the picture, you hear about it the day we find it — with options, not an invoice.

2

Bad news travels fast here

A cracked bond beam, a soaked liner base, weather pushing the schedule — you’ll know when we know. Renovation surprises are survivable; discovering them on your final bill is not.

3

The right crew for each trade

Plaster is troweled by plaster artisans, tile is set by tile setters, gunite is shot by gunite crews — specialist partnerships we’ve built over decades, all managed and scheduled by us, with our name accountable for all of it.

4

We’ll talk you out of work you don’t need

If your liner has two good seasons left or a gelcoat refinish beats a conversion, that’s what we’ll tell you. Renovation is our only business — we’d rather earn the right project later than the wrong one today.

5

Cure times don’t get negotiated

Plaster, gunite, and grout each need their time, and rushing them is how renovations fail early. We build real cure windows into every schedule and we hold them — even when everyone’s excited to swim.

6

Warranties in writing

Workmanship backed by us, manufacturer warranties registered in your name on every finish and every piece of equipment — and an office team on the phone Monday–Friday if you ever need to use either.

What We Do

Everything an existing pool needs to become the pool you actually want — resurfacing and replastering, waterline tile and coping, pool decks, vinyl liner replacement, equipment upgrades and salt conversions, full fiberglass-to-gunite conversions, and water and fire features. Photorealistic 3D rendering is available on request, so you can see the finished pool before we touch a tile.
